Reid Genauer

Reid Genauer is an American singer-songwriter and musician best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist for the bands Strangefolk and Assembly of Dust. Born on September 27, 1969, Genauer developed a passion for music at an early age and began honing his craft as a songwriter and performer.

Genauer co-founded the Vermont-based jam band Strangefolk in 1991, serving as the band's primary lyricist and vocalist. With their blend of folk, rock, and improvisational elements, Strangefolk quickly gained a dedicated following on the East Coast festival circuit. Genauer's introspective lyrics and soulful vocal delivery became defining characteristics of the band's sound.

In 2002, Reid Genauer embarked on a new musical journey by forming Assembly of Dust (AOD), a roots rock band that showcased his evolving songwriting style and musical versatility. AOD's debut album, "Conspiracy of Birds" (2003), received widespread acclaim for its melodic hooks, tight musicianship, and Genauer's poignant storytelling. The band's subsequent releases, including "The Honest Hour" (2004) and "Some Assembly Required" (2009), further solidified their reputation as one of the premier acts in the jam band scene.

Beyond his work with Strangefolk and Assembly of Dust, Reid Genauer has pursued a diverse range of musical collaborations and solo projects. He has collaborated with renowned artists such as Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann, Phish bassist Mike Gordon, and guitarist Steve Kimock, showcasing his ability to adapt to different musical contexts and genres.
