Pavement

Pavement was an influential indie rock band formed in Stockton, California, in 1989. The band's core members included Stephen Malkmus (vocals, guitar), Scott Kannberg (guitar, vocals), Mark Ibold (bass), Steve West (drums), and Bob Nastanovich (percussion). Known for their lo-fi sound and off-kilter songwriting, Pavement emerged as one of the leading figures of the indie rock scene in the 1990s.

Pavement's debut album, "Slanted and Enchanted", released in 1992, is widely regarded as a landmark in indie rock history. The album showcased the band's penchant for unconventional song structures, cryptic lyrics, and noisy guitar work. Tracks like "Summer Babe" and "Here" became cult favorites, earning Pavement critical acclaim and a dedicated following among alternative music fans.

Throughout the 1990s, Pavement released a string of highly acclaimed albums, including "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain" (1994), "Wowee Zowee" (1995), and "Brighten the Corners" (1997). These albums further solidified the band's reputation for their eclectic blend of indie rock, post-punk, and experimental influences. "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain" is often cited as Pavement's masterpiece, featuring the iconic single "Cut Your Hair".

Pavement's music is characterized by its melodic hooks, unconventional song structures, and witty, often cryptic lyrics.
