My American Heart

My American Heart is an alternative rock band originating from San Diego, California, formed in 2002. The band's original lineup consisted of Larry Soliman (vocals/guitar), Jesse Barrera (guitar/vocals), Dustin Hook (bass), and Steven Oira (drums). They quickly gained attention in the local music scene for their energetic live performances and emotionally charged songwriting.

The band released their debut album, "The Meaning in Makeup", in 2005 under the Warcon Enterprises label. The album received positive reviews for its blend of catchy melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and energetic instrumentation. Standout tracks like "The Shake (Awful Feeling)" and "The Process" showcased the band's ability to seamlessly merge elements of pop-punk, emo, and alternative rock.

My American Heart's sophomore album, "Hiding Inside the Horrible Weather", was released in 2007. Produced by James Paul Wisner (Dashboard Confessional, Paramore), the album further showcased the band's growth as songwriters and musicians. Tracks like "Boys! Grab Your Guns" and "The Innocent Letter" delved into themes of adolescence, heartache, and self-discovery, resonating with fans of the emo and alternative rock genres.

Despite gaining a dedicated following and achieving moderate success with their first two albums, My American Heart faced internal struggles and lineup changes over the years. After a hiatus, the band returned in 2014 with a new lineup and a renewed sense of purpose. Larry Soliman remained the sole original member, joined by Jordan Leinhard (guitar), Jake Kalb (bass), and Matt Van Gasbeck (drums).

In 2014, My American Heart released their third studio album, "Honesty". The album showcased a more mature and refined sound, blending elements of alternative rock, indie pop, and post-hardcore. Tracks like "Young at Heart" and "Sleeping Pills" demonstrated the band's evolution while still retaining the heartfelt lyricism and infectious hooks that had become their trademark.
