MX-80

MX-80 Sound, often referred to simply as MX-80, is an American avant-garde rock band formed in Bloomington, Indiana, in the late 1970s. The band's lineup has undergone several changes over the years, but its core members include Bruce Anderson (guitar), Dale Sophiea (bass), Rich Stim (vocals, guitar), and Jeff Armour (drums).

MX-80 Sound gained prominence in the underground music scene with their distinctive blend of punk, art rock, and experimental noise. Their sound is characterized by angular guitar riffs, off-kilter rhythms, and Stim's idiosyncratic vocal delivery, which ranges from deadpan spoken word to frantic screams.

The band released their debut album, "Hard Attack", in 1977 on their own label, Go Records. The album garnered critical acclaim for its raw energy and unconventional approach, earning MX-80 Sound a dedicated following within the alternative music community. Tracks like "Someday You'll Be King" and "Obsessive Devotion" showcase the band's knack for creating dissonant yet catchy melodies.
