M/A/R/R/S

M/A/R/R/S was a British electronic music collective formed in 1987, consisting of members from two prominent British indie bands: Martyn Young and Steve Young from Colourbox, and A.R. Kane, represented by Alex Ayuli and Rudy Tambala. The name "M/A/R/R/S" is an acronym derived from the initials of each member's respective band.

The group's most notable and influential single is "Pump Up the Volume", released in 1987. Produced by the duo of Martyn and Steve Young, the song was a groundbreaking fusion of house, hip-hop, and sampling techniques, featuring a catchy bassline, pulsating rhythms, and a plethora of sampled vocal and instrumental elements.
