Norwegian Black Metal Solo Project: Isengard is a solo project formed by Norwegian musician Fenriz, best known as the drummer of the iconic black metal band Darkthrone. Established in the early 1990s, Isengard served as a creative outlet for Fenriz to explore his musical interests beyond the confines of traditional black metal. The project's name is inspired by the fortress of Isengard from J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

Folk and Viking Metal Influences: Isengard's music diverges from the raw, aggressive sound typically associated with Norwegian black metal, incorporating elements of folk and Viking metal.
