Fantômas

Fantômas is an avant-garde metal supergroup formed in 1998, featuring members from several prominent bands in the alternative and experimental music scene. The band's lineup consists of Mike Patton (vocals, best known for his work with Faith No More), Buzz Osborne (guitar, from The Melvins), Trevor Dunn (bass, also from Mr. Bungle), and Dave Lombardo (drums, formerly of Slayer).

The band takes its name from the fictional character Fantômas, a supervillain from French crime fiction. This choice reflects the band's aesthetic and thematic approach, which often draws inspiration from dark, surreal, and cinematic sources. Fantômas' music is characterized by its eclectic blend of genres, including metal, jazz, experimental rock, and noise.

Fantômas gained widespread acclaim for their self-titled debut album, "Fantômas", released in 1999. The album features a series of short, intense tracks, each representing a different "chapter" in the band's sonic narrative.
