Origin and Formation: Children of Bodom is a Finnish extreme metal band formed in 1993 originally under the name "Inearthed" in Espoo, Finland. The band's name was derived from the Lake Bodom murders, which took place in Finland in 1960. The founding members include guitarist and vocalist Alexi Laiho, drummer Jaska Raatikainen, and bassist Samuli Miettinen. They later recruited Janne Wirman on keyboards and Henkka Seppälä on bass to complete their lineup.

Musical Style and Influence: Children of Bodom is known for its distinctive blend of melodic death metal, power metal, and neoclassical metal elements.
