Formation and Collaboration: Broken Bells is an American indie rock band formed in 2009. The duo consists of James Mercer, the lead vocalist and guitarist of the indie rock band The Shins, and Brian Burton, better known by his stage name Danger Mouse, a highly regarded producer, musician, and DJ. The collaboration between Mercer and Burton began when they met in 2004 and discovered a mutual appreciation for each other's work.
