Big Shug

Big Shug, born Cary Guy, is an American rapper and member of the hip-hop group Gang Starr Foundation. Hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, Big Shug emerged onto the hip-hop scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s, gaining recognition for his raw lyricism, commanding presence, and dedication to the art form.

Big Shug's affiliation with Gang Starr, one of the most influential hip-hop groups of the 1990s, helped elevate his profile within the rap community. He first appeared on Gang Starr's album "Daily Operation" (1992), providing vocals on the track "Speak Ya Clout" alongside fellow Foundation members Guru and Jeru the Damaja.

In 2005, Big Shug released his debut solo album, "Who's Hard", on the hip-hop label Babygrande Records. The album featured production from renowned producers like DJ Premier and MoSS, as well as guest appearances from artists such as Sean Price and Guru. "Who's Hard" showcased Big Shug's gritty lyricism and streetwise storytelling, earning him praise from fans and critics alike.
